Tyler Studio is a Fine Art Gallery located within the charming
confines of the East End Historical District at the corner of
12
th
Street and Postoffice. The featured artist for January is
Sallie Anderson, whose work will be showcased alongside the
gallery’s other permanent, resident artists Ruth Downes, Randal
Cogburn, and Mike and Susan Tyler. Anderson has created a
wonderful body of work as a tribute to the resilient San Jacinto
community in Galveston. This collection of artists provides
a unique sampling of local and regional talents whose work
includes original oil paintings, watercolors, and handmade
jewelry. Tyler Studio is open from 12pm to 8pm during every
ArtWalk and also offers appointments.

The most noticeable feature when you walk through the door of
MiArt gallery in Galveston’s East End is the stunning array of colors
and textures. Michele Grindberg, the owner and artist, paints her
vibrant “happy” paintings with a palette knife instead of a brush to
achieve the texture for which she is so well known. Other resident
artists complement the theme, such as Mary Ann Hasty’s whimsical
clay pieces that are lively and colorful, and often on the back she will
use her grandmother’s lace for an imprint that creates additional
texture. For Valentines Day, or any other occasion, MiArt offers a
wide array of locally handcrafted Sterling silver jewelry with beautiful
gems for every budget.
