“The Beagles” by matt rinard
Arts on Mechanic showcases a variety of
works from local, regional and nationally
known artists. Along with original works,
reproductions of some featured artists
works are available. Also featured is a
wide variety of signed and numbered
prints by nationally known artists such
as Matt Rinard, Eric Dowdle and Tom W.
Freeman. Unique and whimsical clay dog
sculptures by New Orleans artist Chris
Menconi are also available. Other artists
represented include John Barber, Gabe
Prusmack, Mike Quinn, J. A. Soukup,
David Crump, Karen Calhoun, Michael
Breitsameter and jewelry by Jana Garcia.

Former Galveston artist Jennifer Peck
recently made a visit and brought
with her a new hibiscus series for
The Old Galveston Trading Company.
With luscious and abundant images of
botanicals that highlight colorful varieties
of hibiscus on top of philodendron and
fan palms, the show
Beautiful and Brief
celebrates the sudden and fleeting
moments of this ethereal flora. From
Florida, Jennifer sent new embellished
prints for July to offer something in all
price ranges, along with the original
mixed media pieces the store is already
exhibiting. Also new is
Ringo
Starr,
the
latest addition to her Octopus collection,
offered in a variety of sizes and prices.

Members of the Texas Association of
Original Doll Artists have joined forces
to present
Galveston, Oh Galveston
,
an exhibit of handmade, one-of-a-
kind figures, with a theme designed to
highlight Galveston’s historical sites and
prominent attractions. The artists employ
various media to create these unique
artworks, including polymer clay, air-
drying clays, fabrics, and fibers, and the
exhibit features works inspired by the
Hotel Galvez, The Strand, Tall Ship Elissa,
Pier 21, and other sites and events.
Galveston, Oh Galveston
is on display
through July 30, and the dolls in the show
are available for purchase.
