Dinner with the Ghosts:
6-9pm. Do you
believe in ghosts? Hotel Galvez & Spa
offers “Dinner with the Ghosts” twice
this month. During the tour, the hotel’s
concierge guides participants through
the ghostly past of the hotel followed
by dinner in the Galvez Bar & Grill. The
tour is only available as part of the ghost
dinner package. $56 per person. Advance
reservations required. Held at The Hotel

JUNE 8
World Oceans Day Festival:
4-7pm. For
the second year, Artist Boat is hosting the
World Oceans Day Festival on the UN-
recognized World Oceans Day. The event
is family friendly and great for ocean-
lovers of all ages. Local, area and national
organizations will host hands-on activities
highlighting the human connection to
the ocean and the 2017 theme of “Our
Oceans, Our Future.” Held at the Stewart
Beach Pavilion, 201 Seawall Blvd. The
Festival is free, though Stewart Beach
Parking fees will apply.
JUNE 9
Kendra Scott Trunk Show:
3-6pm. Hotel
Galvez is hosting a Kendra Scott Trunk
Show with 20% of sales benefitting The
Grand 1894 Opera House. Kendra Scott
will sell items directly to customers in
the lobby of the hotel. Browse the new
summer and home collection. Held at
The Hotel Galvez, Seawall. Free to attend
JUNE 10
Ocean Star Discover Family Day:
10am-3pm

The theme for May is Off
to the Races. Discover the importance
of
viscosity
and its usefulness to the
Industry by being the judge of a special
race between five different tubes of oil.
Rank the results and determine what it
means for a tube to win the race. Held at
Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig Museum,
1900 Harborside Dr. Children 18 and
under free, with paying chaperone.

Bridal Open House:
11am-2pm

Meet
dozens of local experienced caterers,
florists, photographers, linen specialists,
musicians, DJs, and wedding coordinators
who will be available to answer questions
and help plan your wedding. Try samples
of exquisite food and delicious cakes
while you listen to music and enjoy an
adult beverage created by professional
mixologists. Your $10 admission fee also
gives you the opportunity to view The
Bryan Museum’s galleries that day as

Commissioning of USS Gabrielle
Giffords:
12-3pm. LCS 10 is the ninth
littoral combat ship to enter the fleet and
the fifth of the Independence variant.
It is the first warship named for former
Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle
Giffords. Held at Pier 21, 2100 Harborside
Drive. Free
Geocaching 101:
1-2pm.
Learn how to
find hidden treasure within the park and
around the globe with this short, activity-
based program about geocaching.
The one hour program consists of
games, activities, and short hike. Held
at Galveston Island State Park Nature
Center, 14901 FM 3005. Park Fee is $5,
free to anyone under 13 years.
Music Night on The Strand:
6-9pm.
This free concert features the Blaggards
who will be playing a mix of Irish rock .
Grab your chairs and blankets. Held at
the corner of 23rd and Strand streets at
Saengerfest Park. Free
JUNE 16-18
Galveston Cajun Festival:
The festival
will feature a wide variety of Cajun food
vendors, kid rides and live music from a
wide array of performers across a variety
of genres. In addition, new this year will
be a crawfish eating contest, gumbo
cook-off, team beer pong contest and an
autographing session with professional
athletes. The festival will take place rain
or shine. Festival hours will be 5-11pm
