GALVESTON MONTHLY |
MARCH 2017
Gloria Ferrer Sparkling Wine
has delicate
aromas of baked apple with a bit of yeast
in the light lingering finish. Served chilled,
this crisp, fresh sparkler is perfect on a
warmer evening out on the deck while
enjoying a mix of snacks with the neighbors,
approximately $17.
Dry Creek Old Vines Zinfandel 2012
is
sourced from 90 year old vines from
Sonoma’s premium Zinfandel growing
area. Classic bramble berry aromas with
a touch of earthiness and matching juicy
flavors ends with a bit of peppery spice in
the lengthy finish; serve it with smoked
or roasted pork for some savory warmth
on one of our cooler spring evenings,
approximately $30.

When you read
Sonoma County
on a
wine label, you probably have a good
idea where that particular wine came
from, what you might not recognize,
however, are some of the special
designated appellations within the
Sonoma County
AVA. Also, look for:
Alexander Valley, Bennet Valley, Chalk
Hill, Dry Creek Valley, Fort Ross/Seaview,
Green Valley, Los Carneros, Moon
Mountain, Pine Mountain/Cloverdale
Peak, Rockpile, Russian River Valley,
Sonoma Coast,
and
Sonoma Valley.
Wines with these designations are also
from Sonoma County but the grapes
used were from a more specific area
within the region.
