Annual Used Book Sale:
The
Friends
of Rosenberg Library
invites you to join them for the 2017 Annual Used Book
Sale. New, like-new, and excellent books will be on sale in all
genres. One special feature is the rare books--some antiques,
autographed, one of a kind. Also available are CDs, DVDs,
record albums, and more. On October 5, 5-8 p.m. is the
Members Only Preview Sale. Open to public October 6, from
12-6pm and on October 7 from 10am-4pm. Held on the second
floor of Rosenberg Library, 2310 Sealy. Free admission.
OCTOBER 7
Jamaica Beach Market:
9am-3pm. Come out and support
local artists and vendors at the Fall Jamaica Beach Market.
Fundraiser lunch will be served by the Jamaica Beach Volunteer

Movie Night on The Strand:
7pm. The featured free movie is
The Addams Family
and is about con artists who plan to fleece
an eccentric family by using an accomplice who claims to be
their long-lost uncle. Grab your chairs and blankets. Held at the

Jimmy Webb: The Glen Campbell Years:
8pm. Composer
Jimmy Webb pays tribute to his friend Glen Campbell, sharing
highlights of the 100+ recordings from the Webb/Campbell
songbook - complete with photos, video and audio clips, and

Greek Festival:
A rich cultural experience event that features
the best in Greek food, drink, entertainment and history. The
34th Annual Greek Festival hours are Saturday 11am-8pm
and Sunday noon-6pm. Held at the Assumption of the Virgin
Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 714 19th Street. No admission

Bay Area/Galveston Walk to End Alzheimer’s:
8-11am. The
Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s
largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s
care, support and research. Join the cause for a 5K Walk on
the beach, starting and ending at Stewart Beach Pavilion.
Registration starts at 8am, the opening ceremony begins at
8:30am and the walk starts at 9am. Start a team online at alz.

In addition to petroleum,
learn about nine other energy sources and how each one is
important to you at any moment of every day. See if you can
put together our energy puzzle, and discover how renewable
and non-renewable energy affects your life. Held at Ocean Star
Offshore Drilling Rig Museum, 1900 Harborside Dr. Children 18

Geocaching 101:
1-2pm.
Learn how to find hidden treasure
within the park and around the globe with this short, activity-
based program about geocaching. The one hour program
consists of games, activities, and short hike. Held at Galveston
Island State Park Nature Center, 14901 FM 3005. Park Fee is $5,
free to anyone under 13 years.
Inaugural Seawall Pub Crawl:
5-9pm. Grab a bike or get ready
to high tail it on foot along the iconic Galveston Seawall. Check-
in between 2-4pm, pick-up your punch card and join in on
this epic adventure. Visit all of the participating bars and
get your punch at each bar. Present your punch card with all
locations punched and receive your Galveston Island Brewing
commemorative Pub Crawl Pint Glass. Free event with no
registration required. Must be 21+. Check in is at Nick’s Kitchen
and Beach Bar, 3828 Seawall Blvd.
Music Night on The Strand:
6-9pm. This free concert features
American folk
music by
Harbors Over Highways. Grab your
chairs and blankets. Held at the corner of 23rd Street and
Strand at Saengerfest Park. Free
ArtWalk:
6-9pm. This event takes place in existing commercial
galleries, non-profit art spaces, and select restaurants and
retail stores. Held in the downtown historic district and other

The Beach Boys:
3 & 7pm. Don’t miss an amazing day of “Good
Vibrations” as The Beach Boys feature their beloved summer
sound as they perform a mix of their greatest hits and fan

OCTOBER 21-22
ARToberFEST:
Presented by The Grand 1894 Opera House, this
juried Fine Arts Festival showcases work from over 125 artists
from throughout the United States. Held on Postoffice Street
between 21st and 23rd Streets, on October 21 from 10am to
6pm and October 22 from 11am to 5pm. $5 per person, free for

Sacred Places Tour:
9am-1pm. A wide range of religious
traditions and building styles will be featured, highlighting
the Island’s rich religious heritage while showcasing the
depth and range of Galveston’s sacred architecture. Check
