Free Sandcastle Building Lessons: 10a-4pm. Ths summer every Saturday this free, family friendly event series to help beachgoers create spectacular sandcastles with tips. Visitors can receive free sandcastle building lesson from a professional sandcastle builder. Each event will begin with an instructor building a sandcastle followed by lessons at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Equipment will be provided on a limited basis and participants are encouraged to bring their own sand buckets and shovels. Registration is not required. Held at East Beach, 1923 Boddeker Drive. Parking s $15 per car.

Harborside Express Train Rides: 11a-2pm. The Harborside Express is an open-air caboose that travels one mile up Harborside Drive then returns to the Galveston Railroad Museum. Train rides are approximately 15 minutes long. Boarding begins at noon, with the last train ride ticket sold at 1:30pm. The train is a standing ride without seats. Concerts are a mix of much loved show tunes, big band numbers and jazz. Held at the Sealy Pavilion at Mary Moody Northern Plaza, located at 24th Street and Avenue I acrfoss from Rosenberg Library. Wooden bench seating is provided or bring your own chair or blanket. Free.
